Abstract

My article is about the element of paradox vital to our understanding of the divine.  Hindu mythology not only allowed, but embraced this concept in both god and goddesses alike. Rooted in the disciplines of depth psychology, comparative religion and sociology, my work reflects upon ancient Indian writings and the archetypal energy of Krishna.I will argue 1. the comparison between Bhakti yoga practitioners and  Pentecostal Holiness traditions 2.  Indian philosophy supports religion as an intellectual activity 3. we as humans are shaped by our experience of the mysterium  tremendum.
